With Pipe Freezing System kit, there is no need to drain the system when changing a valve or extending the pipework. Simply freeze the pipe. PFS freezes contents in the pipe using CO2 dry ice, forming a temporary ice plug.

There are three sizes of PFS jackets able to freeze either vertical or horizontal pipes from 3/8" to 3" diameter pipe. The reusable nylon jackets are flexible to allow freezes to be made on pipes in awkward places.

The PFS jackets simply connect to the siphon grade CO2 tank using the high pressure hoses. Two freezes can be made simultaneously using the T provided.

The jackets simply connect to the C02 cylinder high pressure hose. Two simultaneous freezes can be made at the same time. The kit provides a tee piece with two hoses and jackets. The refillable high pressure carbon dioxide syphon cylinder, with dip tube, contains sufficient liquid C02 for several small freezes.

Here is how it works:
The refrigerant CO2 lowers the surface temperature of the pipe causing initial icing circumferentially along the inner surface of the pipe. This "icing" continues to grow inward radially with an ever decreasing bore until the ice meets the very center of the pipe radius and closes off, forming an "ice plug".

From this point on, the plug grows lengthwise. which can tolerate greater and greater pressures exerted upon It. In laboratory situations, freeze plugs have held pressures over 8,000 PSIG.

You can safely weld or braze near a PFS jacket, since C02 is non-flammable and non-toxic. Pipe Freezing Systems can freeze all metal, copper, steel, iron, lead and even plastic pipes. Any liquid which will solidify at 25°C (13°F), such as water, brine, anti-freeze, organic solvents and same oils, can be successfully frozen by the Pipe Freezing Systems method.
